Slice Introduces Build-Your-Own-Pizza Kits

New York Magazine reports thatVancouver-based Papa Murphy’s has become the country’s fifth-largest pizza chain by serving up pies that (contrary to all logic) you cook yourself. Now Slice is following in their footsteps.

Slice, on the Upper East Side, has launched a line of “build your own pizza kits” that will satisfy all your take-and-bake urges. Buy them for $7.99 at Gourmet Garage, Fairway, Zabars, or Garden of Eden, and you get (in separate baggies, never frozen) two slices of whole-wheat crust, all-natural marinara sauce, and low-fat organic mozzarella cheese. Cook them for about five to eight minutes et voilà — way better than zapping a half-pound pepperoni-and-cheese Hot Pocket! Or more dignified, anyway…

About I Dream Of Pizza

Some guys dream about winning the Powerball jackpot, making love to Kate Upton, or scoring the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl. But personally, I spend most of my time dreaming about digging my face into a mouth watering slice of pizza. Fireworks are ignited. Music comes out of nowhere. And just like that, I’ve fallen in love once again. Since 2008, I've chronicled my pizza eating adventures in New York City and around the world on I Dream Of Pizza -- the web's most popular blog dedicated entirely to pizza.
