Happy Chaukah: Homemade Menorah Pizza Pies

On Wednesday, I posted a photo of a delicious looking Chanukah pizza that Paulie Gee created last year. Now that pie has a name — The Menorah Jones — and its been making an appearance on the menu at his Greenpoint restaurant this week.

If you’ve been following the I Dream Of Pizza Twitter page, you may have noticed that I’ve been on a bit of a homemade pizza kick lately. I made four pies on Wednesday night, the first night of Chanukah, and started things off with a menorah pizza of my own, inspired by Rabbi Gee.

I made the dough overnight using Jim Lahey’s no knead dough recipe. The base of the pie was made with fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheese. The menorah was made out of thin basil slices and the candles were made with small chunks of butternut squash. The pie was topped off with olive oil, sea salt, parmesean cheese, and pepper flakes.

Check it out… and chag sameach!

About I Dream Of Pizza

Some guys dream about winning the Powerball jackpot, making love to Kate Upton, or scoring the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl. But personally, I spend most of my time dreaming about digging my face into a mouth watering slice of pizza. Fireworks are ignited. Music comes out of nowhere. And just like that, I’ve fallen in love once again. Since 2008, I've chronicled my pizza eating adventures in New York City and around the world on I Dream Of Pizza -- the web's most popular blog dedicated entirely to pizza.
