Despite its name — San Antonio Wood Fired Pizza is not located in Texas. Rather it’s a weekly pop-up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on Friday evenings. Their menu is pretty straightforward – featuring eight pizzas like a four cheese pie (Say Cheese) and a Hawaiian pie (Aloha).
What’s Unique: Nowhere else in New York City can I think of a recurring pizza pop-up, located in the middle of a residential block. You can sit on a nearby stoop and enjoy pies right out of the wood fired oven.
What To Eat: I tried a Margherita and a Popeye pie and both were delicious. They aren’t huge — on the smaller side of what you might typically find at a Neapolitan spot. The best deal is the Margherita which is only $10 — as cheap as you’ll find in New York. I placed my order in person and had to wait about an hour for it. A better move is to call ahead (347-835-2192) so it’s ready when you arrive.
What To Know Before You Go: As of July 2021, this pop-up operates on Friday evenings @ 130 Eagle Street from 5PM-9PM. Follow them on Instagram for information about additional pop-ups (recently they’ve been appearing the Brooklyn Brewery on Saturdays).
