The Year In Photos: A Look Back At The Best Pizza Pics Of 2009

Since I’m sure you’re all sick of these “best of the decade” lists, I thought I’d spare you any pizza lists. It’s 2010 now, but over the next week I will take you back into the last decade for a photo recap of the year in pizza. I’m breaking my retrospective into three parts:

01/04 — Photos of pizza that I took in ’09
01/06 — Pizza related photos that I took in ’09 that are not of pizza itself
01/08 — Pizza related photos that I did not take which appeared on this site in ’09

So today — I’d argue is the most important photo set. It’s shots of the pizza itself. I’ve never claimed to be a great photographer and, in fact, many of these were taken with my iPhone. Yet I think this collection captures the variety of pies I’ve eaten over the past year. The goal is not to crown a best looking pizza (I Dream Of Pizza’s 50 Sexiest Pies Alive?), but merely to look back on the good times we spent eating pizza together last year.

One day my yet to be born children will ask me — father… was 2009 a good year for pizza?

I’ll go no further than this list to show them that — yes — 2009 was a great year for pizza.
